About The Race
The Woodlake Triathlon/Duathlon has been the premier Spring triathlon of the Sandhills for most of the past 16 years and has become a Memorial Weekend tradition. The race has recently seen a dramatic increase in attendance with over 300 entries. We expect the race to fill in 2008 so register early. If you plan on racing we suggest that you get your application in early as there will be NO race day applications.
Whether you are a first time participant or a racing veteran, the course is great. Most of the race takes place within the beautiful gated community of Woodlake in Vass. The triathlon consists of a 600 yard swim (expected to be wet suit legal) in the 1300 acre lake, a 17.2 mile bike around the hilly perimeter of Woodlake followed by a 3 mile flat, fast run. The race is staffed by volunteers, many of whom live in the community and has many spectators to cheer you on.
If you prefer not to swim, the duathlon offers a run/bike/run combination that is both fun and challenging.
Relay teams are encouraged and may participate in either the triathlon or duathlon.
At the conclusion of the race there will be a cook out and raffles to complement the Awards Ceremony.
Trophies go to our overall male and female in both races and with our close proximity to Fort Bragg, we honor our military athletes with overall military awards as well. The race offers competitive five year age group categories with prizes going 3 deep in each.
